Quantum

Artist Oliver Warden commissioned me to help him bring his most recent piece Quantum over the finish line. This piece iterated on a prior piece of his called “Untitled Box 2.0” where participants turn on a light switch revealing Warden inside the box, to which he turns the light off. Quantum takes this further using TouchDesigner to generatively display video on 1-3 interior LED screens, and Warden then proceeds to turn off these videos. Once participants have reached the final stage, they are met with a AI generated video of themselves on all 3 screens.

I streamlined the TouchDesigner network and architecture such that Quantum behaved much more predictably and the project structure much more organized. I processed the generative AI calls using the an image taken of the participants once they flip the switch the first time. Also I added arduino code that passed back and forth between TouchDesigner and the Arduino Nano to correctly display LEDs once the switch is active and off when inactive. In addition to revising the existing Arduino switch code.
